How to Use ASIN Harvester to Automate High-Performing Keyword Discovery on Amazon
In a competitive advertising landscape, finding and leveraging high-performing search terms can be the difference between stagnant sales and skyrocketing growth. That’s where ASIN Harvester comes into play. This automated workflow identifies top-performing search terms based on real campaign data, allowing you to optimize your ad targeting and scale efficiently.
Let’s dive into how to set up and utilize ASIN Harvester Workflow to supercharge your Amazon advertising strategy.
Step 1: Navigate to Automation → Workflows
Begin by heading to the Automation section in your dashboard, and select Workflows. This is where you’ll build the automated process for harvesting valuable keywords.
Step 2: Select “ASIN Harvester”
From the list of available workflows, choose ASIN Harvester. This tool is specifically designed to extract search terms tied to ASIN-targeted campaigns, which can be repurposed to drive performance across your account.
Step 3: Name Your Workflow & Choose Advertised Products
- Name the Workflow: Give your workflow a descriptive name that reflects its purpose.
- Select Actively Advertised Products (ASINs): Choose the ASIN(s) that you’re currently promoting. These products will serve as the core focus for discovering new search terms.
Step 4: Define Campaign Targeting Type
Next, select the Campaign Targeting Type that corresponds to how your chosen ASINs are being advertised:
- Manual Targeting: If you manually selected keywords or ASINs in your campaign.
- Automatic Targeting: If Amazon is determining where your ads are shown.
Select Advertised Campaigns
Pick the campaigns to harvest search terms from. These must:
- Include the selected ASIN(s)
- Contain performance data from the past 30 days
Mark Negative in Source
Optionally, enable Mark Negative in Source to automatically add harvested terms as Negative Exact in the original campaigns. This helps avoid duplication and reduces cannibalization.
Step 5: Choose Analysis Duration
Select the Time Period you want to analyze. This timeframe will determine which search term performance data is evaluated—typically 7, 14, or 30 days.
Step 6: Set Harvesting Conditions
In this step, you’ll define the performance metrics that a search term must meet in order to be harvested. These conditions help ensure that only the most effective and relevant search terms are carried forward.
You can set criteria based on the following key metrics:
- Orders – Minimum number of conversions required to indicate relevance.
- ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sales) – Set a maximum threshold to control profitability.
- Sales – Specify a minimum sales amount to qualify a term as impactful.
- ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) – Define a minimum acceptable return to ensure efficiency.
- Current CPC (Cost Per Click) – Cap the cost per click to maintain budget control.
Simply input your preferred thresholds for each metric. The system will automatically evaluate and select only those search terms that meet all the conditions you define.
This filtering step ensures your campaigns are driven by proven, high-performing keywords—improving both efficiency and results.
Step 7: Assign a Destination Campaign
Choose the Destination Campaign where the harvested terms will be added:
- ASIN Same As: The harvested ASIN targets will match the products selected in Step 3.
- Only Manual Campaigns using ASIN targeting are eligible.
Optional: Edit Bids
In this step, you can also adjust bids for the new targets, ensuring they align with your budget and performance expectations.
Step 8: Set Exclusions
Enter any keywords or phrases you want to exclude from harvesting. If a search term contains these, it will be skipped. This helps filter out irrelevant or underperforming terms.
Step 9: Set Frequency
Choose how often the workflow should run. This could be:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Bi-weekly
The right frequency depends on how active your campaigns are and how quickly you want to iterate on new data.
Step 10: Review & Launch
Finally, review all your selections to ensure accuracy. Once everything looks good, hit Launch Workflow.
Congratulations! Your Keyword Harvester is now active and will start uncovering new opportunities to optimize your advertising strategy.
